There is something powerful about women gathered at a table.
On March 8th, in honor of International Women’s Day, we come together for La Mesa de Mujeres 🌹 a brunch in celebration of the women who shape our lives.
The mothers.
The sisters.
The mentors.
The daughters.
The friends.
The selves we are, were, and are becoming.
Brunch from 11:30 AM–2 PM.
@cucucumbiaa on the decks until 3 PM.
Menu specials coming soon.
This is a special collaboration between Kindred, @Futurerootz, and @LibertadSurchi — three spaces coming together to create something meaningful.
This table centers women.
All are welcome.

Kindred,
You’ve been seeing the gatherings at Casa Kindred. And beyond those walls, Kindred continues doing the multigenerational groundwork in schools and community spaces.
Black History Month looked like this in our afterschool with @chicagocyc space today.
We started with the youth's questions. The real ones. The curious ones. The ones that deserve time.
Then we explored how Black communities were often excluded from formal mental health spaces and how healing still lived anyway.
Through art. Through music. Through faith. Through storytelling. Through community.
Our Bloomers and Cultivators learned about Black pioneers in mental health and honored the ways our ancestors protected their minds long before it was called therapy.
And then they created.
“Keep our mental health intact because our ancestors fought for it.”
Advice to help mental health. Breathing. Confidence. Positive thoughts. Not letting others knock you down.
They illustrated Black the father of black Psychology Dr. Francis and others
They named legacy. They claimed their own wellness.
Kindred Schools and our afterschool programming are alive and strong.
Black History is not only about survival - It is about how we heal. And today, they showed us how. I especially loved the gospel songs that were sung, and the dance party we had! Because joy is liberation!
Also deeply grateful to @simonejw for helping me crystallize this idea and shape it with clarity. Your insight around art, church, storytelling, and healing helped anchor this session in something powerful and rooted. I’m always learning alongside both you and @mimi_movesyou
((03.01.26 - 2-5PM)) #SacredSoundSystem @ #CasaKindred featuring @afroqbano ((@futurerootz - @beatsybateria))
Havana born selector, producer, and cultural archivist. Harold will share rare Cuban vinyl and reel to reel recordings, many largely unheard outside the island due to limited distribution and decades of embargo.
He will guide us through the music with historical context and cultural insight. Stories behind the recordings. Lineage behind the rhythm.
This is not a DJ set. This is education through sound. Archive through culture, frequencies, and vibration.
Sacred Sound System is about presence.
No distractions. Just community united by music.
This is #deeplistening.

Story Time 🦚
Aging has never scared me.
But it has always intrigued me.
The layers.
The memory.
The meaning making.
The becoming and unbecoming
When I was at Adler, during one of my final years, I procrastinated signing up for classes… especially the electives.
By the time I logged in, all the highly sought after ones were already full. Of course 🙃
So I chose the one that still had space.
Advanced Counseling Skills with Older Adults.
Hands down one of my favorite courses.
I became completely fascinated by the lifespan.
Because each decade carries its own emotional, cognitive, physical, and even spiritual learnings.
And yes… crisis, hardships, loss, injustices, moments that shake us. Of course.
But something else became very clear to me too.
How much we actually have in common across generations.
How human our fears, longings, regrets, and hopes truly are.
How deeply mental health is connected to meaning making.
One of the most powerful parts of that class was interviewing three elders over 65.
The conversations were profound. Tender. Honest.
I left those interviews in tears.
I spoke with someone in their 60s, someone in their 70s, and someone in their 80s.
I have been forever changed by that experience.
And somehow, this tree has always felt connected to that learning.
This is La Ceiba de Vieques, a sacred tree estimated to be more than 300 years old.
I visit it every time I go. Every single time.
Standing beside it, touching it, leaning into it…
I am reminded of time, endurance, memory, and wisdom that cannot be rushed.
Of what it means to live through seasons. It has spoken to me and i hold those whispers dearly. Full circle moment.
Porque today…
I get to facilitate a workshop for older adults called
Love Yourself Where You Are 🤍
I get to walk through the decades with them.
Hear their stories.
Witness their reflections.
And gently invite a glimpse of self love, and maybe even a deeper love for how we care for, listen to, and honor our elders.
Because aging is not disappearing.
Because dignity has no expiration date.
Because the way we hold our elders quietly reveals the kind of society we are choosing to be .
Kindred is live. And still becoming.
Our website has been published for a little while now, but we haven’t fully publicized it because it’s not done. And today I realized that is okay.
The process is the Kindred way.
Imperfections are beautiful.
Taking our time is a gift.
Kindred was never meant to be rushed. It has been built slowly, intentionally, and with care. Guided by lived experience, relationships, and values rather than business as usual, hustle culture, or the status quo.
As a founder, a proud immigrant, and as a woman, I have been learning as I go. With time, I have learned how important it is to protect the vision, especially when outside expectations or urgency try to shape the pace or direction. What once felt confusing now feels clearer. In my mid 40s, I trust my inner compass more deeply and return to it when the noise gets loud.
Leaping when it feels aligned.
Pausing when it doesn’t.
Choosing an artistic, community rooted, values aligned way of building. One step, one offering, one relationship at a time. Three and a half years in, and it still feels like the beginning. There is so much more to create, imagine, discover, and do.
Deep gratitude to @studioitzi for his creativity, care, and vision in shaping our website. Almost there, David. I see you.
Thank you to everyone who follows us, shares our work, shows up in our spaces, and spreads the word through love and word of mouth. We truly love building this community with you. It means everything.
Shout out to Kindred Liberatory Arts for helping us get out into the world and for the many people, connections, and partnerships we have made.
Gratitude to Howard Street Makers Studio and @rogersparkba for giving us the opportunity to hold our first residency, especially to my sister @icarolinajuarez.
Thank you to the partnerships in schools and afterschool spaces including @west40isc and @chicagocyc.
Love to Mujerista Cohort 1.
To Hermanidad.
To Sacred Sound Studio.
To the Ofrenda series.
And now, Kindred introducing Mano and Mujerista Cohort 2.
So much love to @ayurvedic.elements, @flyradicaltherapy, @creativepassages2healing, and @criticallearningcollaborative
With love,
Jessica y Fausto
Oye, Mano.
We need places like this.
Introducing MANO Creencias & Manhood
Unlearning patriarchy
Exploring power
Showing up better for ourselves and those we love
This began as a quiet knowing that spaces like this were needed.
A place where men are given room to reflect and where in that reflection everything around us begins to shift.
MANO is a men’s circle.
A grounded space to talk honestly about belief, power, patriarchy, and how we show up in relationship at home with partners in family and in community.
MANO is the mirror of Hermanidad.
Different containers shared values.
Each space doing its own work with care and responsibility.
This is not a competition.
It is an invitation.
An invitation to sit in circle.
To listen.
To learn.
To grow together.
We are seeing so much men’s work launching right now and we love to see it. It tells us there is a real need and desire for this. We do not want to do this work in isolation. We want to build relationships join forces and support one another.
This is what community care can look like among men.
Casa Kindred
March 15
2 to 5 p.m.
Circles facilitated by Fausto Lopez @slomo2.0 & Jose Rodriguez
Registration opens soon.

If this calls you come sit with us.
MANO is open.
🖐🏽
Hermanas,
If you feel a quiet whisper pulling you toward community, a desire to talk things through without having to perform, to be held while also witnessing others, there is space for you here 🌹
The world feels heavy. Politically, collectively, personally.
Especially in the winter, we need spaces where we can slow down, process what’s happening, grieve what needs grieving, and stay human together..
not to bypass the hard things, but to move through them with care.
This is a place where we take the risk of being seen, of being vulnerable, of showing up honestly. There’s a comfortable seat waiting for you in the circle.
This is an open-format circle (not a closed cohort), while remaining a women-centered Hermanidad space.
🗓 Saturday, Feb 7

🪬We create these spaces so we can process, work things through, and stay in relationship with ourselves

The integration and how these spaces eventually speak to one another is unfolding on the horizon.

☆☆☆☆
We opened the gathering with a grounding check in and a simple prompt: "When do you notice yourself reaching for music most."
☆☆☆☆
About 17 of us gathered sharing briefly and arriving fully. @giroscopios ((Charly Garcia)) closed the check in by offering his own story. He spoke about growing up surrounded by family culture television and curiosity and how music was always present shaping him influencing how he listens and guiding the way he chooses to collect sound.
☆☆☆☆
From there we entered the listening lounge.
Ninety minutes of #deeplistening.
No talking. Only ((sound)).
☆☆☆☆
Charly guided us through selections from his 60s and 70s social justice vinyl collection music he has gathered over a lifetime as a crate digger vinyl collector music journalist and founder of Sonorama. Each record carried history intention and care. As the music played we responded quietly through art. Painting writing coloring journaling and notes. Listening learning and communicating back without words.
☆☆☆☆
We closed the experience together reflecting on what it meant to listen this deeply and hearing Charly share from both perspectives as listener and selector through a gentle Q and A.
--
#SacredSoundStudio is an experiment in slowing down. In honoring sound.
In remembering that listening itself is a practice.
STAYTUNED ((March 1st 2026)) for the next #hifi session!

Check out Charly, his work ((@sonoramachicago @futurerootz @lumpenradio @yollocalli )) #ElDiscoesCultura
Some spaces change you, even after they end.
Last year’s Mujerista Incubator was one of those experiences. The care, honesty, creativity, and courage that Cohort 1 brought into the space continues to ripple outward in ways we are still witnessing. I am deeply grateful for what was shared, built, and offered.
Each year, we begin this journey in alignment with International Women’s Day, continuing the ritual of starting together during a time that honors women’s labor, leadership, and lived wisdom across generations.
With that gratitude and a lot of care, we are honored to welcome Mujerista Incubator Cohort 2.
This begins as a seven session journey for womyn and femme identifying creatives, facilitators, artists, healers, and leaders who are holding something close. An idea, a practice, a workshop, a vision that has been quietly growing and is ready to be tended in community.
This work lives within Kindred Hubs as part of our Ofrendas Series. It is rooted in reciprocity and collective care. You bring your story, your lived wisdom, your questions. Together, we create a space where healing and leadership can sit at the same table, and where ideas do not need to be perfect to be worthy of attention.
We move through the Four Currents
La Raíz
La Lumbre
La Semilla
El Viento
Grounding what matters. Tending the fire. Nurturing growth. Allowing what is ready to move outward to do so with intention.
The Incubator is the foundation. Seven gatherings where we explore, reflect, and shape ideas alongside one another.
From there, participants who feel called may continue into the Mujerista Accelerator, a next phase focused on refining and bringing offerings more fully into the world.
There is no expectation to continue beyond the Incubator. You choose what feels aligned.
We will be gathering in person at Casa Kindred, holding space for six to ten Mujeristas in an intimate and intentional cohort.
Cohort 2 applications open today.
Apply now or join us for an upcoming informational virtual to learn more.

1. Kindred Mantra
Whoever is supposed to show up, shows up.
We hope that is you. 🤍
2. What do we mean by "no performance"
No performance doesn’t mean no preparation.
This space is planned, prayed over, curated, and sacred.
It means we are not here for clout, praise, or applause.
We are here for presence.
Come human, not perfect.
Come honest, not impressive.
Come with intention, with care, with a willingness to build something together.
We gather to heal and to imagine a different world, practicing healthy communication, accountability, and tenderness with one another.

Hermanidad Circle Two is coming!
Join us!
Last time was tender.
We named things many of us have carried quietly for years.
It was heavy, honest, and necessary.
This time, we’re shifting the energy.
Circle Two is an Open Circle: a community-shaped gathering where you choose what you bring.
A question.
A story.
A moment you want to unpack.
We’ll place them in a shared basket and see what wants to be held together.
No fixing.
No pressure to share more than you want.
Listening is enough.
This is about choice.
Voice.
Co-creation.
Come as you are.
Bring what’s present.

Seeing so many of you reflecting, honoring your journeys, and giving gratitude has been so inspiring… so I’m hopping on that train too. Because it is beautiful to pause, look back, acknowledge, and shout out everyone who has supported, trusted, and poured into us this year.
So this is the first of two reflections and we’re starting with Casa Kindred.
In September, we rolled up our sleeves and transformed upstairs into something sacred. Fresh paint. New furniture. Soft lights. Big dreams. We invested time, money, and a whole lot of heart..we’re deeply grateful to our community partners whose support allowed us to reinvest back into ourselves so Casa Kindred could belong to more of us. Thank you to everyone who exchanged energy with us, paid what they could, and helped keep the space accessible. That reciprocity is a blessing.
Casa Kindred was also blessed by our families.
They showed up, prayed over the space, and helped anchor love and protection into these walls.
A special thank you to my mom — the Godmother of Casa Kindred — whose presence and care helped make this feel like home. To Fausto’s mom and dad — thank you for your blessing, encouragement, and reassurance that we weren’t “wild” for pouring time, money, and capacity into this dream. Your belief mattered.
To the countless friends who helped host, worked the oven, welcomed people in, and treated this space like their own. thank you. You helped breathe life into this vision.
October opened the doors with Ayurvedic Elements + Make Your Own Medicine, and The Art of Remembering. Casa Kindred took its first breath.
November rooted us ..Praxis began co-working weekly, and we hosted our first Hermanidad Circle.
December warmed the house : intimate gatherings, my sister’s holiday celebration, FLY Radical Therapy’s cozy café-style anniversary, Sacred Sound Studio’s first Listening in Color, and so many people saying,
“I miss this… I miss house gatherings… I miss spaces that feel like home.”
Casa Kindred has become that — a small-gathering home for connection, creativity, healing, and storytelling. And it’s only been three months!
Please stick with us, we honor you!

🧡Reminder🧡
This Sunday from 2-6p.m.
So honored to be gathering this Sunday for Listening in Color, the first session of our new Sacred Sound Studio series. This is Casa Kindred’s version of a listening party, where sound meets art-making, reflection, and healing circle energy.
A soft, grounding space to be held by music, color, and community.
If you have been craving slowness, creativity, connection, or simply a moment to breathe, this is for you. You are invited to listen, create, sit quietly, express freely, or simply be. All ways of showing up are welcome.
If you plan to join us, please fill out the RSVP form - (link bio and stories)
so we can prepare the space with intention and love 🥰🧡
We cannot wait to be in community with you.
So honored to present our new endeavor, 🎶Sacred Sound Studio🎶
A three part Kindred series shaped for those moments when we need to slow down, listen differently, and remember the parts of ourselves that only rise when sound and creativity meet.
Sacred Sound Studio is a soft landing and a gentle awakening. It is a space to be held by music, by circle, by color, by the quiet wisdom that shows up when we allow ourselves to feel instead of rush. An invitation to return inward and create from truth rather than urgency.
You are welcome to attend all 3 sessions or stop by to any!
🔊Session 1:
Listening in Color-opens the door. We begin with shared sound and let it move through our creative process, noticing how it becomes shape, emotion, texture, release.
🔊Session 2:
The Intentional Listening Party- deepens the practice. We listen with our whole selves and let music and story reflect what wants to be named, understood, or transformed.
🔊Session 3:
Live Music Frequencies- brings us into an immersive closing moment. Live sound becomes the atmosphere- a collective heartbeat guiding the final arc of the journey.
🎵Sacred Sound Studio is for anyone longing to feel again, to breathe again, to create with honesty, presence, and liberation.
You are warmly invited into this new chapter with us.🎵
Recently I introduced Hermanidad, and today I’m opening the doors to our first gathering.
You are invited to
Session 1: Las Heridas Que No Decimos
The Wounds We Don’t Speak About.
A few months ago I attended @astamalciute workshop on sisterhood wounds, and something in that space stirred me. It gave language to things I’ve been hearing for years… and it touched something I had buried in myself. I reached out afterwards, shared what was moving in me, and asked for her blessing to build from that inspiration. She offered it with so much generosity, and I honor that deeply🙏🏼
Because the truth is this: so many mujeres, femmes, have quietly shared these stories with me. Stories of longing for sisterhood and stories of being hurt by it.
Stories of comparison. Jealousy we never wanted. Betrayals we didn’t see coming. Distance that confused us. Silence that created ache. Friendships that shifted without closure. Sisters, both blood and chosen, who held us and wounded us in the same lifetime.
And I’ve lived some of those wounds too.
Held them quietly.
Carried them longer than I realized.
Missed people I’m no longer in relationship with.
Held grief I didn’t know how to name.
Hermanidad grew from those whispers.
From my own longing.
From our shared truths.
From the desire to gather in a space where honesty and tenderness can coexist.
In this first circle, we will explore these unspoken wounds together.
We will cleanse.
We will ground.
We will set agreements that protect our hearts.
We will create a space free of judgment and full of softness, care, and protection.
It may feel tender.
It may feel intense.
It may feel like relief to finally name something you’ve been carrying alone.
Hermanas… come as you are.
Come open.
Come curious.
Come if something inside you says, “I know this feeling.”
And for those asking about the name…
Hermanidad is a word I made up.
A blend of hermana and humanidad.
A reminder that sisterhood and humanity belong together.
Not a program. Not a curriculum.
A circle.
A space.
A container of care we step into when the heart asks for it.

A month ago I put up a poll on my stories asking if there was interest in a new kind of circle. Many of you said yes. As promised, here it is.
Hermanidad was born from the in-between moments.
The moments after Mujeristas ended.
The conversations with women who still felt the pull to be held in circle.
The quiet noticing that so many of us are carrying sisterhood wounds we never had room to name.
This is the space I needed years ago and the space I still need now.
A circle to come as we are.
No performance.
No pressure.
No program to complete.
Just an open door each month and a theme that meets us where we are.
Hermanidad Circles begin in December at Casa Kindred.
A soft space for femmes who want to heal and grow in community.
